Roses are red, violets are blue… and this city is blue, too! Some people like blue so much that seeing the blue sky everyday is not enough. They had to paint half a city in this colour so they could be satisfied. This blue city is located in India, and it called Jodhpur, but most people know it as “The Blue City.” The city centre is where something called “Mehrangarth Fort” is. Most of the houses around it are painted in the colour of the sky. People call these houses “Brahmin houses”, because traditionally, only members of the castes used to live here. But the real reason why these houses are painted blue is not currently known. There is only one theory that explains this. Some locals say that these houses were painted blue to be protected against novice insects like termites or mosquitoes. Maybe writers for the song “ I’m Blue” got their inspiration while visiting this amazing city!?
